News : Australian Online Spend Grows to 22%

A bumper year for online advertising spend was predicted for the US in 2007 and the boom has spread to Australia, according to eMarketer.com.

A survey from eMitch and Roy Morgan Research indicates that major Australian advertisers plan to direct 22% of their total advertising budget to online advertising.

“Online advertising accounted for around 16% of advertising budgets in 2006, so the latest figures show that online activity is becoming more of a priority for advertisers,” said Market United General Manager Sandra Riches.

“Banner advertising continues to be the most popular choice for online advertising, but search engine advertising is showing a surge in growth.”
